About Explore the Riyadh Zoo 'Fun for animal lovers of all ages'
A visit to the zoo in a foreign country can be extremely gratifying as few language skills are needed — just an appreciation for animals. And the Riyadh Zoo is no exception. It is home to more than 1,300 animals from 190 species, which live in six protected areas. To find it, simply head to the Al Malaz neighborhood of Riyadh, and be sure to book your tickets ahead of time.
Established in 1957 as a private royal zoo, the Riyadh Zoo opened to the public in 1987. Today, the park sees roughly 600,000 visitors annually. Covering 164,000 square meters, the Riyadh Zoo is the largest and oldest park in Saudi. And in addition to animals, it features a wide expanse of green space, as well as beautiful views, which makes the spot particularly suitable for families.
